- Goods must be safe, of good quality, and reasonably suitable for their purpose (CPA s9).
- If goods are defective or not as described, you may return them within 6 months for repair, replacement, or refund (CPA s56).
- For direct marketing transactions, you may cancel within 5 business days without penalty (CPA s16), unless the goods were fully consumed or custom-made to your specification.
- Sellers cannot contract out of these statutory rights where the CPA applies (CPA s51 — unfair, unreasonable, or unjust contract terms).
- Where the marketplace mediates a dispute, outcomes will respect CPA rights and platform rules even if a seller policy says otherwise.
